Essential Job Duties:
The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University is seeking applicants for a fellowship position in Comparative Theriogenology to begin July 20, 2026.
The Theriogenology Fellowship at North Carolina State University is an advanced training program designed for a veterinarian who has already completed a residency in Comparative Theriogenology. Candidates must be either Board Certified by the American College of Theriogenologists (ACT) or board-eligible.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary objective of this fellowship is to refine clinical expertise, contribute to peer-reviewed literature, and support the ongoing academic mission of the university. This fellowship is clinically focused, with a primary emphasis on equine and canine species, complemented by experience in bovine and small ruminant species. The fellowship offers an environment for further professional development, scholarly activity, and specialized clinical practice.
- Clinical Service: The Fellow will manage complex hospital reproductive cases and reproductive emergencies within both the equine and small animal hospitals.
- Equine Management: Clinical duties include overseeing the breeding management, embryo transfer and assisted reproductive techniques (ARTs) of mares and stallions housed at the Theriogenology clinic at the Reedy Creek Farm in Raleigh, NC.
- Teaching: The Fellow will play an integral role in the didactic and clinical instruction of veterinary students, interns, and residents providing mentorship and teaching from a board-eligible/certified perspective.
- Scholarly Activity: The Fellow is invited to engage in advanced research under the mentorship of our faculty.
- Faculty Collaboration: Our team includes 2 full-time faculty members, as well as faculty with board certifications in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS), with specific interests in neonatology, urology, and related fields.
Departmental Required Skills:
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree and a minimum of one-year experience post-DVM.
