"Tier II Canada Research Chair in Silviculture and Forest Management"

The Vice-rectorate of research and creation at the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) is seeking exceptional candidates for a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Silviculture and Forest Management with a tenure-track faculty position. Tier II Chairs, tenable for five years and renewable once, are for exceptional emerging researchers.

The Chair’s research program should focus on themes related to silviculture and forest management in boreal contexts, leveraging the Lac Duparquet Teaching and Research Forest (https://ferld.uqat.ca/missionE.htm). The anticipated start date is January 2026. The successful candidate will join the Forest Research Institute (https://www.uqat.ca/uqat/departements/irf/).

Candidates must hold a PhD (specialization in historical or paleoecology) for less than 10 years, demonstrate potential for international reputation, be fluent in French and English or intend to learn French, and propose an innovative research program. Tasks include research, graduate teaching (MSc and PhD), university administration, and supervising theses.
