About the ACO
The Academic Careers Office (ACO) exists to promote, support, and advance academic and clinical academic careers in health and life sciences across UCL. Operating within the Office of the Vice-Provost for Health (VPHO), the ACO collaborates extensively with UCL researchers, NHS and industry partners, other UCL divisions, and external funding bodies.
The ACO is a small, dynamic team of seven professionals who work collaboratively across the university. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, inclusive, and creative team committed to supporting career development.
About the MRC CoRE
The Medical Research Council Centre of Research Excellence (MRC CoRE) in Clinical Trials Innovation is a newly established centre of excellence for clinical trials methodology.
The MRC CoRE brings together a nationwide consortium, led by Mahesh Parmar (UCL) and Co-Leads from Universities of Cambridge, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Newcastle and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
The CoRE aims to establish the UK as the world’s leading research and innovation hub for clinical trial design and delivery that will transform studies of disease prevention and treatment globally.
About the role
The Training and Engagement Manager will be based in the ACO team, working closely with the MRC CoRE team. The post holder will take responsibility for organising training, careers and capacity building activities and gathering evidence on their impact, producing content for the MRC CoRE’s website and social media channels, and working with MRC CoRE researchers to develop the MRC CoRE communications strategy and maximise the impact of their research.
Success in this role requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to navigate UCL’s complex institutional structures and partnerships across the MRC CoRE network with other institutions. The post holder should be forward-thinking, intuitive, and confident in anticipating challenges and identifying solutions.

- This is fixed-term post until 31 December 2028 in the first instance.
