Job Summary:
The Transfer Student Advisor plays a central role in UW–Madison Online’s recruitment and transfer enrollment strategy by supporting prospective students across multiple outreach levels, guiding the development of scalable recruitment and advising tools, and building strong relationships with partner technical & community colleges. This is a student-facing role that blends high-touch advising for transfer students and other prospective learner segments while ensuring effective support across the full recruitment funnel. The advisor must be able to manage multiple populations, stay organized while priorities shift, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture. This position is full-time during business hours and requires 20–40% travel to partner campuses in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Minnesota throughout the year.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities
- Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences
- Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
- Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures
- Builds and maintains partnerships with technical and community colleges to support outreach, recruitment, and admission
- May supervise staff and/or lead a program area
- Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students
- Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment, and admission
- Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
- Evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution

Compensation:
Minimum: $ 44,543 ANNUAL
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in higher education, student services, admissions, or academic advising.
- 3 years of experience providing student-facing support in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting transfer students, adult learners, online students, or community college populations
- Experience with admissions processes, including application review or enrollment guidance
- Knowledge of transfer credit evaluation and degree pathways
- Experience developing or improving advising processes, tools, or resources
- Experience using CRMs (e.g., Salesforce) and student information systems in advising or admissions processes
- Familiarity with UW System or Wisconsin Technical College System policies and program structures
- Experience coordinating or participating in recruitment/outreach events
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required
