About the Role

The Cancer Research UK Cancer Prevention Trials Unit (CPTU) at QMUL specialises in research to advance cancer prevention, early diagnosis and screening.

We are recruiting a Trial Coordinator to join our team. One of the trials you will be working on is an exciting large-scale national project, BEST4, funded by Cancer Research UK and the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). The overall aim of the BEST4 Trial is to investigate the effectiveness of the Capsule Sponge test in reducing the number of deaths caused by cancer of the oesophagus. The BEST4 screening study will recruit 120,000 participants, of whom 40,000 will receive the Capsule Sponge on mobile units located in 5 UK regions.

You will be a detail-oriented professional looking to provide hands-on coordination support to the management of clinical trials. Previous exposure to clinical trials will be a significant asset. Your effective communication skills, both written and verbal, will enable you to collaborate seamlessly with interdisciplinary team members and external stakeholders and your keen attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of trial documentation.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Wolfson Institute of Population Health is an exciting and dynamic environment, home to more than 450 staff, 100 PhD students and c500 postgraduate taught students. It harnesses expertise across a wide range of population-based research and education activities and aims to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in population health, primary care and preventive medicine. The Institute is organised into six separate research centres which, though complementary and following the Institute strategic plan, also have Centre-specific objectives and requirements.

The Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis forms part of the WIPH and brings together globally leading researchers focusing on cancer prevention, cancer screening and detection and early diagnosis across three units including the CRUK-funded Cancer Prevention Trials Unit. CCSPED also hosts the cross-cutting Cancer Behavioural Science group.
