Typist I - Civil Service FT
Job Description
In this front-facing role, you will greet incoming students and visitors, answer incoming calls for the Admissions Department, respond to general inquiries, and coordinate the distribution of information packets to prospective students. The Typist I also support admissions-related mailings and contributes to the daily administrative operations of the department. Responsibilities include sending correspondence to applicants about missing application materials and responding to questions from prospective students via phone or email. Additionally, this position assists with data entry and ongoing admissions mailings throughout the recruitment cycle. Some weekend hours are required.
NOTE: This title may be filled in one of the below two manners:
- Through Non-Competitive appointment in accordance with the HELP Program; OR
- Appointment off the appropriate Civil service competitive list
Job Requirements:
Experience Required: Ability to type at a rate of 35 words per minute.
Experience Preferred: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, computer/ technology experience, ability to multitask, work independently and follow directions. Research skills and highly organized, attentive to detail. Bilingual preferred, not required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Other: Full-time, 12 month Civil Service (Competitive) Permanent Appointment
Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00PM, (40 hours per week - one hour paid lunch). No regularly scheduled vacation or time off permitted during peak registration period (January & August). Hours will vary during peak periods.

Starting Salary - $21.1316/hr (Grade 4/Step 2) CSEA Employees - According to contract
