Offer Description
A call is open for the award of one (1) Research Scholarship (BI) within the R&D project/unit Centre for Languages, Literatures e Cultures (CLLC), reference UID/04188/2025, under the following conditions:
- Scientific Area: Cultural Studies
- Funding Source: Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P./MCTES, through national funds (PIDDAC), reference UID/04188/2025 and DOI identifier https://doi.org/10.54499/UID/04188/2025.
- Admission Requirements: 3.1. Student enrolled in a doctoral programme. 3.2. Study cycle area: Cultural Studies.
- Other Requirements: - Meet the necessary conditions to enrol in the PhD Programme in Cultural Studies at the University of Aveiro; - Propose a research project framed within the domain of Critical Digital Humanities, in line with the strategic guidelines defined in the multiannual plan of the Centre for Languages, Literatures e Cultures – CLLC.
- Eligibility: Candidates who meet the provisions of subparagraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 2 of the Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019 of 28 August, and paragraphs 1 and 2 of article 6 of the Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação of the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, are eligible.
- Work Plan: The work plan to be developed will be the doctoral project proposed and approved within this call. The research activities leading to the award of the doctoral degree must have the Centre for Languages, Literatures e Cultures – CLLC as the host institution.
- Applicable Legislation and Regulations: Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação Científica, as amended by Decree-Law no. 123/2019 of 28 August; Regulamento n.º 950/2019 of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December (Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT, I.P); Decree-Law no. 66/2018 of 16 August (Regime jurídico de reconhecimento de graus académicos e diplomas de ensino superior atribuídos por instituições de ensino superior estrangeiras).
- Workplace: The work will be carried out at the Centre for Languages, Literatures e Cultures – CLLC of the University of Aveiro, under the scientific supervision of a researcher integrated in the Between Cultures group of the CLLC.
- Duration of the Scholarship: The scholarship will last 12 months, predicted to start in January 2027, and may be renewed for additional periods of 12 months, up to the maximum limit of the approved funding, and may not exceed the limits defined in paragraphs 3, 4 and 5 of article 6 of Regulation no. 950/2019 of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December (Regulamento de Bolsas de Investigação da FCT, I.P).
- Monthly Maintenance Allowance: The scholarship amount is €1,359.64, according to the monthly maintenance allowance table set out in Annex I of Regulation no. 950/2019, subject to applicable updates under paragraph 2 of article 18 of Regulation no. 950/2019 of 29 November, published in Diário da República, no. 241, 2nd Series, of 16 December (FCT Research Scholarship Regulations). The scholarship holder may also be reimbursed for the amount corresponding to Voluntary Social Insurance, if joining this regime. An additional supplement is granted under current regulations (Desp. No. 58-REIT/2022), depending on enrolment in a Doctoral Programme during the term of the scholarship contract. Tuition fees will be reimbursed upon proof of payment.
- Selection Methods: Applications considered admissible will be scored on a scale of 0 to 20 in each of the following evaluation criteria:
- Criterion A – Candidate’s merit:
- Subcriterion A1 – Relevance of scientific and professional background, weighting 20%
- Subcriterion A2 – Classification of previous academic degrees, weighting 35% (simple average of bachelor’s and master’s degrees; if no quantitative or qualitative final classification is available for any degree, a final average of 10 will be considered for that degree)
- For the calculation of Subcriterion A2 regarding certificates that specify only a qualitative classification (e.g., pre-Bologna master’s degrees), this will be converted according to Table 1 for the purpose of calculating the final average (bachelor’s + master’s) and determining the academic background score.

Final Score = (0.2 × A1) + (0.35 × A2) + (0.1 × B1) + (0.35 × B2).

- Publication/Notification of Results: The evaluation results will be published through a ranked list by final score on the CLLC webpage, within a maximum of 90 working days after the application deadline. The approved candidate will be notified by email, and a period of 10 working days will be granted for prior hearing of interested parties, as provided by the Administrative Procedure Code. After this period, and in the absence of any response, the ranking list becomes final. Candidates may submit a complaint within 15 working days or appeal to the executive body of the funding entity within 30 working days after notification of the final decision, in accordance with article 12 of the FCT Research Scholarship Regulations.
- Validity of the Call: The final ranking list of candidates will remain valid until 31‑12‑2027 for the purpose of establishing a reserve list.
