Your new workplace: The Institute for Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies has a vacancy for a university assistant Praedoc (Prof. Dr. Andreas E. Müller). The position is for 30 hours per week. Interested candidates with a completed degree and above-average academic achievements, particularly in the field of reception/scientific history of the subject, are invited to apply.
Contract duration: The contract duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not issue a non-renewal declaration within the first 12 months. If the work progresses accordingly, an extension to a maximum of 4 years is possible.
Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: Participation in the administration of the institute, teaching, and research in the field of Byzantine Studies/Modern Greek Studies; Participation in research projects/scientific studies; Participation in publications, scientific articles, and lecturing; Completion of a dissertation agreement within 12-18 months is expected; Work on the dissertation and its completion; Participation in and independent teaching of courses in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement; Participation in the organization of conferences, symposia, and other events; Student supervision.
This is part of your personality: Minimum requirements: Completed master's/diploma degree in Byzantine Studies/Modern Greek Studies – if possible, in the field of reception/academic history of the subject; High level of written and oral communication skills; Language skills: native-level German, very good written and spoken English, good knowledge of Modern Greek, Ancient Greek, and Latin; IT skills, computer literacy; Ability to work in a team. Desirable: Knowledge of university processes and structures; Initial experience in academic writing and research methods; Teaching skills/experience in e-learning; Basic knowledge of archival work; Experience in reading Kurrent script.
