Essential Job Duties:
The Access Services Library Technician plays a crucial role in delivering services and support to the NC State community. The position provides expert information and circulation services at Ask Us service points, demonstrating strong customer service skills and clear communication in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
The position manages and maintains varied collections, including course reserves and technology lending, with attention to detail and familiarity with modern library resources. They contribute to the management of high-performing student employees through scheduling, training, and supervision. Additionally, the position troubleshoots patron computing, printing, and other technologies-resolving problems and identifying solutions for library users. The position exercises independent judgment to navigate ambiguity and cultivate excellent user experiences, making complex processes accessible to the NC State community. They ensure the safety and security of people and materials in a high-technology research library environment while adapting to the evolving information and learning needs of students in a university setting.
This position requires a combination of technical expertise, customer service excellence, and adaptability to meet varied user needs and contribute to the overall success of the Access Services department.

Minimum Experience/Education:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience providing excellent public service in an academic setting, with an understanding of college students' information and learning needs
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment, exercising sound judgment and maintaining accurate records, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with library resources, research tools, and complex online systems, along with competence in using common technologies
- Ability to foster a welcoming environment of belonging for the student, faculty, staff, and visitor community
- Strong organizational, collaborative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret policies, communicate procedures clearly, and resolve issues with sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications:
