Join our innovative team and help inspire the Occupational Therapists of the future. We have many exciting developments underway, including our new National Health Innovation Campus and the Health and Wellbeing Academy. We are seeking Occupational Therapists with a passion for student education and the profession. We are looking to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE) University Practitioner in Occupational Therapy to help us achieve our ambitious plans.

The Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise has an excellent portfolio of education and research. You will teach within a department delivering Occupational Therapy and other health-related programmes, and you will support the development of exciting placement expansion opportunities.

We are looking to appoint an Occupational Therapist with a broad range of practice experience who is able to teach across multiple areas of the curriculum. You will be committed to partnership working, and a strong interest in practice research is particularly welcome. Ideally, you will have experience of working with students and will be able to inspire them to excel through positive role modelling and innovative teaching. This role involves both practical and theoretical teaching across the undergraduate and apprenticeship Occupational Therapy degree programmes. You will also contribute to further developments within the department, both in a profession-specific and multi-disciplinary context.

Registration with the HCPC as an Occupational Therapist prior to commencing the role is essential. A master’s degree (or equivalent) is desirable; however, please note that candidates who are professionally qualified and can complete a Level 7 qualification/PGCert in their first year of employment will also be considered. You must also be a member of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or have the capacity to obtain membership within 12 months of appointment.

As a Practitioner, we expect you to be actively engaged in practice in addition to your role at the University. This can be either through paid employment with another employer, paid consultancy, or freelance work.

This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Regular status checks may also be required, depending on your role.

The University is deeply committed to equality and diversity for all its students and staff. We seek to be diverse and inclusive, supporting individuals and groups to fulfil their potential and nurture a sense of belonging. We strive to be an accessible, inclusive employer, removing barriers for all. Find out more about our approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, including our commitments and accreditations as a Disability Confident Employer, Stonewall Gold Award holder, Top 100 Employer, Athena SWAN Bronze Award holder and Race Equality Charter Bronze Award holder.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be made to Dr Matthew Haines by email at m.haines@hud.ac.uk.

Closing date: 01 March 2026.
