Location: Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences, Botnar Institute for Musculoskeletal Sciences, Windmill Road, Oxford, OX3 7LD.

This is a full time, fixed term position for 5 years initially, extendable for a further 5 years.

The Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) is part of the Medical Sciences Division and is the largest European academic department in its field, running a globally competitive programme of research and teaching.

Applications are invited for the post of Climax Research Professor of Regulatory Innovation. This post is hosted by the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Science at the University of Oxford. You will be based at the Botnar Research Centre.

About the Role

The Professor will have a global vision to lead the cross-cutting themes for regulatory innovation and public policy, critical to guiding and debating the development of improved regulatory frameworks for safe and faster product approval, market access and related issues where regulatory innovation and public policy will have a key role to play.

You will work to secure research grants and funding as well as share research findings by means of high profile publications, conferences and seminars. You will provide effective management and leadership, and contribution to departmental, divisional and central University governance as required. You will inspire a new generation of researchers in the field through conducting teaching, lectures and project supervision.

About You

Applicants should have both a scientific background, having worked in the biomedical and pharma industry, and a regulatory law background with qualifications in law and with extensive experience in challenging regulatory practice/decisions. We are seeking an outstanding multi-qualified leader and recognised international authority who will work with therapeutic innovators and global regulators to create new, more efficient and effective regulatory scaffolds for novel therapeutic interventions in order to shorten therapeutic development times for patient benefit.
