"University Registrar"

The University of the South, a highly-ranked liberal arts college and seminary, located in Sewanee, TN, seeks applications for the position of University registrar. Situated on 13,000 acres atop Tennessee’s Cumberland Plateau, Sewanee is known for its stunning natural beauty while providing easy access to Chattanooga, Nashville, and Huntsville. Primary Function:

The University Registrar reports to the provost and is responsible for the oversight of the University of the South’s Registrar’s Office. The Registrar is responsible for planning, managing, supervising, reporting, and advising on all activities related to academic records, conferral of degrees, course registration, classroom scheduling, student information systems, and related areas. The Registrar contributes to a leadership team that focuses on student retention and success.

The Registrar will supervise four staff positions:

Associate University Registrar for Student Academic Services,

Assistant University Registrar for Faculty Academic Services,

Communication, Content, and Publication Specialist,

Academic Services Manager

Position’s Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in higher education, information systems, educational research, or another relevant field required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute

Experience:

Five years experience in a comprehensive college or university registrar’s office is required, including a minimum of eight years’ managerial experience; preferred experiences include administering academic policies and procedures, using and managing complex student information systems, participating in registrar’s professional associations, experience interpreting and applying collegiate policies related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as amended (FERPA).

Candidates with the ability to work with Banner or a similar ERP, including the construction of logic tables, are particularly welcome.
