About the Role 

Swinburne University of Technology has an exciting opportunity for passionate and engaging Casual General Education Teachers to join our Vocational Education (VE) team.

As a Casual General Education Teacher, you will work collaboratively within a team of dedicated education professionals to deliver high-quality education and training programs. You will plan, deliver, assess and evaluate learning while ensuring compliance with relevant vocational education standards.

This role requires the ability to adapt and customise programs to meet the diverse needs of learners and clients, across qualifications ranging from Course in Initial to Certificate III in General Education for Adults. You will draw on contemporary learning technologies, innovative pedagogies and industry best practice to support positive student outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching and assessment using a variety of learning modes
  • Plan and implement innovative learning experiences that respond to diverse student needs
  • Develop and maintain learning and assessment resources
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of training programs aligned with industry and community needs
  • Ensure compliance with Vocational Education and Training (VET) policies, frameworks and quality standards
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support continuous improvement in teaching and learning

About You  

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrated excellence, or the capacity to implement high-quality and innovative teaching and assessment practices.
  • Experience, or the ability to develop and deliver training programs tailored to industry and community needs.
  • Experience, or the capacity to develop learning and assessment resources.
  • An understanding of Vocational Education and Training policies, frameworks and compliance requirements.
  • A collaborative approach and a strong commitment to student-focused learning.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)

OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)

OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110)

OR

  • Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education
  • A secondary teaching qualification which is a credential issued by a higher education provider (as defined in section 5 of the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011) which would enable the individual to satisfy the academic requirements for registration as a secondary school teacher in accordance with the registration requirements in at least one State or Territory, and one of the following:
  • TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set or TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor, OR
  • TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set
  • AQF Level 7 or above teaching qualification with relevant method or evidence of relevant knowledge of the theory of literacy development and its application to practice.
