Virtual Hospital Coordinator
Job Summary
Metropolitan Community College Health Science Institute is seeking an innovative and detail-oriented Simulation Coordinator to lead our simulation center in development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation-based education in the Nursing/Allied Health/Health Science programs. The Simulation Coordinator will collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student learning through the integration of high-fidelity simulation, clinical scenarios, and skills-based practice aligned with current healthcare and simulation accreditation standards.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate and facilitate simulation activities, including scenario design, setup, operation, debriefing, and evaluation
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate simulation into course curricula and ensure alignment with program learning outcomes
- Maintain simulation and lab equipment, including simulators, task trainers, audiovisual systems, and related technology
- Develop and implement processes and procedures related to simulation operations and lab safety
- Provide orientation and training for faculty, staff, and students on the use of simulation technologies
- Monitor inventory and order supplies and materials as needed
- Stay current with best practices in simulation education and participate in professional development
- Collect and analyze data related to simulation usage and learning outcomes for program improvement and accreditation purposes
- Manage partnership opportunities with external agencies to access the simulation center and generate revenue
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Healthcare, Education, or a related field
- Five (5) years of experience working in emergency medicine or nursing.
- Clinical experience in healthcare or simulation education
- Strong organizational, communication, and technical skills
- Experience with healthcare simulation technology and software (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing, or a related field
- Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE)
- Experience with healthcare simulation
- Teaching experience in higher education
- Teaching experience in a clinical or academic setting
- Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., ACEN, CCNE, CoARC)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with all constituencies of a diverse community
- Demonstrated interest in and passion for teaching community college students
- Ability to work well with others
- Strong oral and written communication skills
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require grasping, hearing, keyboarding, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly.
