Position Summary:
The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Western Carolina University is seeking applications for a one-academic year, Visiting Assistant Professor or fixed-term Instructor of Mathematics for Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. This is a nine-month position with the potential for summer teaching.
The successful candidate should have an MS or PhD in mathematics, statistics, or a relevant field at the time of hire, including 18 semester hours of graduate coursework in mathematics, from an appropriately accredited institution. Duties include teaching 12 credit hours each semester in mathematics and/or statistics at the undergraduate level as well as departmental or institutional service. Delivery of these courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online.

Minimum Qualifications:
For Visiting Assistant Professor: PhD in mathematics, statistics, or a relevant field at the time of hire, from an appropriately accredited institution.
For Instructor: Masters degree, including 18 semester hours of graduate coursework in mathematics, from an appropriately accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications:
Evidence of excellent teaching and versatility in teaching lower division mathematics courses is preferred.
