Japanese Language Visiting Assistant Professor / Instructor

Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a visiting position in the Japanese language program beginning August 2026. Appointment is for nine months (August-May). This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. The field is open to Literature, Cultural Studies, or Linguistics. The rank will be Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Instructor, depending on qualifications. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate (or terminal degree) in Japanese language, literature, or a related field. Teaching experience required. Teaching load is 3/3 and will include the teaching of Japanese language courses at the beginning and intermediate levels, as well as Japanese culture courses taught in English. The successful candidate will be the sole instructor of Japanese in the department and should be capable of overseeing a small language program.
