Job Description:

General Statement of Duties: Full-time, temporary assistant professor to teach Anatomy and Physiology and/or introductory and elective Biology courses as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses for both biology majors and non-majors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching work load (24 semester hours of credit of instruction per school year), and preparation for classroom and laboratory instruction.
  • Provide student assistance including academic advising.
  • Participate in faculty, committee and departmental meetings as well as curriculum review and development, program reviews and student outcomes assessment.
  • Continuing scholarship and professional activities which include contribution to the content of the discipline, participation in or contribution to professional organizations and societies, research demonstrated by published or unpublished work, public service and contributions to the professional growth and development of the university community.
  • Participation in scheduled orientation and registration programs.
  • Attendance at university functions, including commencement and convocation.
  • Instructional responsibilities may include courses for majors and non-majors.

Requirements:

  • Requires Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in Biology or closely related field.
  • ABD will be considered with an anticipated degree completion date of June 30, 2026.
  • Teaching experience at the university/college level in Anatomy and Physiology and/or General Biology.
  • Ability to teach both freshman and upper-level courses.
  • Ability to integrate appropriate technology and software in teaching.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team consisting of biologists and chemists.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily pass a check conducted by the Criminal History Systems Board (CORI) as well as a completed background check satisfactory to the university.
  • Ability to perform all duties with or without reasonable accommodations.

Additional Information:

Full-time, temporary, 9 month benefited position, beginning September 1, 2026.

Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract. A reasonable starting salary range to expect for a new faculty member appointed at the rank of Assistant Professor is $70,000-75,000. There are opportunities to teach summer, winter term, online, and undergraduate and graduate courses.
