Visiting Assistant Professor of Business - 3 Year

Summary

Washington & Jefferson College invites applications for a three-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in business to begin July 1, 2026. We seek a dynamic and engaging individual who is passionate about undergraduate teaching related to marketing and entrepreneurship, and who is also excited and able to contribute to entrepreneurial outreach programs at our Ignite Center. The successful candidate will bring energy and expertise to both areas. Responsibilities in the undergraduate curriculum may include teaching electives in marketing and/or entrepreneurship, as well as one or more sections of our core marketing course. This position may also be assigned to teach one or more sections of our Introduction to Business course. At our Ignite Center, the successful candidate will participate in teaching the modules of our I2E (Ideas to Enterprise) incubation series for small businesses. These modules include market research, marketing and sales, operations, and financial pro forma development.

As part of the overall commitment to teaching excellence, the successful candidate will be well-versed in the appropriate use of technology and prepared to contribute to innovative curriculum development and delivery for both undergraduates and entrepreneurs. The candidate will be expected to develop strong relationships with colleagues, inspire and prepare students through effective teaching, and demonstrate a high level of organization and communication ability. The teaching load is three courses (four credit hours each) per semester, and we anticipate that one course per academic year may be assigned to the Ignite Center duties. Additional responsibilities include appropriate professional or scholarly contributions, as well as service to the department, college, and broader communities. The College seeks thoughtful, creative, and nimble leaders who can add immediate value in the complex environment of private higher education.

The Department of Business at Washington & Jefferson College offers undergraduate majors and minors in business administration, accounting, and finance, as well as several focused minors and programs, in a liberal arts environment. Our faculty are an accomplished, diverse, and collegial group that includes both scholarly and professionally oriented academics.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an MBA or other appropriate master's degree along with relevant professional experience. Preferred candidates will have an earned doctorate or ABD in Business or a related field.
