Position Summary: Bowdoin College's Department of Earth and Oceanographic Science invites applications for a full-time benefits-eligible visiting assistant professor appointment in oceanography for the 2026-2027 academic year. The appointment is for one year and begins July 1, 2026. A PhD is expected by the date of appointment. Bowdoin is particularly interested in candidates dedicated to inclusive undergraduate teaching. We seek candidates with expertise in geological, physical, and/or biological oceanography to teach intermediate-to-advanced courses. The teaching load is three courses per year, two of which include a weekly 3-hour hands-on lab session. The EOS Department has facilities and instrumentation to support a range of engaged learning and field and laboratory activities (https://www.bowdoin.edu/earth-oceanographic-science/facilities-and-instumentation/index.html) as well as access to boats and a flowing seawater laboratory.
