Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies
The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures in the School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Richmond invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Japanese Studies to begin on August 18, 2026.
We seek a teacher-scholar who shares our commitment to highly effective teaching at all levels of the curriculum. The successful candidate will teach three courses each semester. Courses may include, but are not limited to, Japanese language, culture, cinema, media studies, and literature. The Department of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures offers immersive language instruction and rigorous cultural study in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian. We empower students to think critically about global issues through literature, film, and interdisciplinary inquiry, preparing them for thoughtful engagement in a complex world.
A PhD in Japanese Studies (Literature, Cinema, Culture or related areas) is required by the time of appointment.
