Job Description
Ashland University invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology (area open) to begin in August 2026. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses which may include General Psychology I, General Psychology II, Research Methods, Advanced Research Methods, and/or courses in their area of expertise.
The teaching load is equivalent to four courses per semester; however, approximately half of this load is expected to be fulfilled through the supervision of undergraduate directed research in collaboration with the Ashland University International Collaboration Research Center (AUICRC).
- This position offers a unique opportunity to engage undergraduates in global, multi-lab research collaborations, mentor students in replicable and transparent research practices, and contribute to cross-cultural and open-science initiatives.
- This is a one-year appointment, renewable for one additional year based on performance and institutional needs.
- Candidates with a doctorate in psychology at the time of appointment are preferred, but ABDs who have completed all requirements except the dissertation defense will be considered.
- Applicants should have documented teaching experience, demonstrated potential for scholarly contributions, and a record of mentoring undergraduates in research.
Required Qualifications
- ABD in Psychology.
- Candidates with a doctorate in Psychology at the time of appointment are preferred, but ABDs who have completed all requirements except the dissertation defense will be considered.
