Visiting Assistant Professor, Sociology & Anthropology
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Molloy University in the School of Arts & Sciences invites applications for a one semester Visiting Faculty position to teach Spring 2026. Review of applications will begin immediately.
The visiting professor will teach four classes during the Spring 2026 semester, including two sections of SOC 1010 (Introduction to Sociology – one online and one in person), SOC 2530 (Aging and Society), and a Sociology elective to be determined. In addition to teaching, the visiting professor will also be expected to attend departmental meetings, advise a small number of students, and assist with department initiatives as needed.
The ideal candidate has outstanding teaching skills, evidence of-or potential for-a distinguished record of scholarship as well as a commitment to service activities to students, the department, university, and community. Candidates are expected to advise majors and minors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A doctorate in sociology from an accredited university
- 1 to 3 years of teaching experience
- Experience teaching online asynchronous courses
Salary Information:
When determining the salary offer for a new employee, Molloy considers several key characteristics such as job knowledge, skills, and experience as well as internal and external equity. The hiring salary range for this position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, has a salary range of $34,000 to $35,000. This hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation at the time of posting.
