Summary:
The Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is seeking applications for a full-time, visiting faculty position in collaborative piano and class piano to begin in August 2026. This is a non-tenure track, one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for up to 3 years.
Required Qualifications and Education:
- Individuals from all backgrounds, including from underrepresented groups, are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates must be able to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and community members with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, such as the ability to interact with others with respect and empathy.
- Undergraduate degree in piano performance or collaborative piano.
- Demonstrated professional excellence in collaborative piano with the skills necessary for choral and instrumental accompaniment.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- Graduate degree in piano performance or collaborative piano.
- Demonstrated successful experience in teaching keyboard musicianship.
Responsibilities:
Duties each year include a 24-credit hour teaching load. Primary duties will include accompanying university choirs, teaching class piano for non-keyboard music majors, and accompanying instrumental students for juries and recitals.
Salary/Benefits:
The salary is $50,000.
