Description
The Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Professor position in Creative Writing in Spanish. We seek a dynamic scholar and writer with expertise in creative writing in Spanish, a strong publication record, and a commitment to innovative teaching.
Responsibilities:
- Teach creative writing courses in Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Mentor and advise students.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program initiatives.
- Maintain an active publication record.
- Engage in departmental and university service.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Creative Writing, Hispanic Literature, or a related field by the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated experience in creative writing (fiction, poetry, nonfiction, or hybrid genres) in Spanish.
- A strong record of publications in recognized literary venues.
- Evidence of excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Ability to teach a variety of creative writing courses in Spanish, including workshops and literature courses with a creative component as well as language courses.
- Preferred qualifications include experience incorporating AI and other innovative methods in creative writing pedagogy.
