Description

The Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame is seeking an experienced policy practitioner to join the School as a Visiting Professor of the Practice. This is a part-time position based in Washington, DC.

The Keough School houses nine institutes and a center, with thematic and regional expertise to tackle environmental sustainability, promote democracy around the world, strengthen peacebuilding processes, protect human rights, explore the role of business or religion in development, and reduce global poverty. The School is normatively committed to advancing Integral Human Development, which is a holistic model of human flourishing, based on Catholic social thought, and rooted in the inherent dignity of each and every person. We advance IHD through a strong combination of research, teaching, and policy impact, so that we actively bridge the gap between scholarly production, students experiential learning, and the audiences that could directly benefit from this knowledge.

Qualifications

The Visiting Professor of the Practice will have extensive experience in one or more of the Keough School's strategic areas (https://keough.nd.edu/about/strategic-plan/). The Visiting Professor of the Practice will advance the Keough School's effort to effectively position policy relevant research through different ways.

  • Team teach a three credit policy course to the Undergraduate Global Affairs majors during the Spring term in Washington DC, and visit campus during the Fall term to advise Master of Global Affairs (MGA) students.
  • Reflect on current policy priorities in the Federal Government to inform the School's strategic research agendas and effectively influence policy debates.
  • Expanding the School's outreach activities to engage key thought leaders, policymakers, government agencies, and the private sector in the Washington DC area.

To fulfill these goals, the Visiting Professor of the Practice will be predominantly based at the Keough School Washington Office. The VPP will selectively travel to Notre Dame's campus in South Bend, Indiana to engage with faculty and MGA students. The position is scheduled to start August 1st, 2026, and will last for one academic year until June 2027.
