This position provides leadership for the students/athletes who participate in varsity sports and physical education at University of Saint Joseph. The position calls for the person to generate enthusiasm for the sport and teach a team and a sportsmanship approach to students.

  • Administers and develops all aspects of the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball program including recruiting, retention, technical and tactical development of the team, in and off-season conditioning programs and training, scouting, supervising assistant coach, maintaining budgets and fundraising.
  • Provide a positive role model and leadership to the team, as well as excellent communication skills.
  • Plan season competition schedule, coordinate travel, plan and conduct practices.
  • Effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the University and its programs, personnel, and mission. Maintain a high level of professionalism on and off the field toward student-athletes, other coaches, parents, administrators, and members of the community.
  • Monitor and manage the women’s volleyball budget and program resources.
  • Participate in department fundraising initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with all University, GNAC and NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
  • Will teach 3 courses during the academic year.
  • Perform game management duties in off season.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree required
  • 2-3 year's experience in coaching at the college level and college teaching experience preferred.

Other Qualifications

  • AED, CPR, and First Aid certified
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations.
  • AED, CPR, and First Aid certified.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, as noted below, with or without reasonable accommodation.
