Job Description Summary / TWC Summary
The Chief Financial Officer of the University is directly responsible to the President. The Chief Financial Officer maintains the University’s financial records, provides oversight for the preparation of a variety of financial statements, manages the daily financial operations to ensure the accurate recording of revenues and expenditures, develops and maintains operating policies and procedures and coordinates the activities of financial offices under the Business and Financial Services division.
Essential Duties Summary
- Prioritizes and coordinates the work activities of an accounting/financial staff and provides work direction as needed.
- Oversees the verification of income and expenditures; reconciles the general ledger.
- Oversees the maintenance of accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and university policy.
- Reviews internal audit findings and prepares response for the director’s review and signature; develops procedures to insure compliance with audit findings and recommendations.
- Serves as department liaison to other university departments on accounting/financial matters; provides information to authorized personnel as needed.
- Develops and implements internal operating policies and procedures.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of statistical data for periodic statements for management use.
- Provides maintenance of the Student Accounting system.
- Responsible for the billing of tuition and fess, and the processing of transactions into the student.
- Oversees and coordinates the supporting maintenance to the system.
- Oversees the collection functions for student accounts.
- Develops and implements internal access and process controls for the system.
- Prepares or oversees the preparation of statistical data for management financial analysis.
- Responsible for the cash handling functions for the Cashier’s Office.
- Oversees the maintenance of accounting records in accordance with GAAP and University policies.
- Accounting system in accordance with University policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university
Required Licensing/Certification Requires CPA certification and must be bondable

Required: Six (6) years of directly related experience.
Working/Environmental Conditions
Sitting or standing in one location much of the time. Some stooping, lifting or carrying objects light weight may be required. Use of video display terminal. May require routine travel.
