Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Professional experience in college admissions, event coordination, student services, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating events, programs, or operations with multiple moving parts.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading student staff, volunteers, or teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Three or more years of professional experience in higher education (admissions, recruitment, events, or Welcome/Visitor Center operations).
- Experience managing daily operations or logistics for a program, office, or visitor-facing service.
- Experience supervising or coordinating a large student staff or team.
- Experience with campus visit programs, tour operations, or visitor engagement.
- Experience working with high-achieving or scholarship-focused student populations.
- Experience developing communication plans, publications, or communication flows.
- Experience with admissions CRM systems or databases.
- Experience working with diverse student populations.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
- Texas State University employee or alumnus.
Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to coordinate recruitment initiatives, support event programming, and promote Texas State University from the San Marcos campus. This role contributes to both in-person and virtual recruitment efforts, including large-scale visit programs, daily campus visits, and specialized outreach to prospective students.
This position plays a key role in the daily operations of the Welcome Center, ensuring a high-quality visitor experience through the coordination of campus tours, front desk services, and program logistics.
Additionally, this role provides supervision and leadership for a team of student employees, supporting their development, performance, and engagement as representatives of the university.
Job Duties:
- Direct the planning and implementation of Top Scholar programming and recruitment initiatives.
- Coordinate collaborative efforts among campus partners to recruit high-achieving prospective students.
- Counsel prospective students and families and represent the university at recruitment functions.
- Coordinate the development of publications and communication plans for Top Scholar programs.
- Support the daily operations of the Welcome Center, including oversight of tour schedules and visitor flow in collaboration with the Program Director.
- Supervise and manage a team of approximately 30 student employees (tour guides), including scheduling, time approvals, performance management, and disciplinary processes.
- Lead the recruitment, hiring, and on-boarding of student tour guides, including application review, interview coordination, and selection processes.
- Coordinate and support the student leadership team, including facilitating meetings, leadership development, and program initiatives.
- Serve as an advisor to the University Ambassadors, including attending regular meetings, supporting training, and assisting with recruitment efforts.
- Deliver presentations and engage daily with prospective students and families through tours, information sessions, and individual interactions.
- Prepare statistical reports, manage inventory, and track data to support event planning and operational effectiveness.
