Job Description
Basic Function:
The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in all phases of welding. The assignment may also include other courses in the discipline.

Education:
Bachelor's degree and two years of full-time, or the equivalent part-time experience as a welder OR any associate degree and six years of full-time, or the equivalent part-time experience as a welder OR The Equivalent. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).
Experience:
Two years of teaching experience is required. Community college or baccalaureate level teaching experience is desired.
Preferred: American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Pipe certification current or previous, journeyman pipefitter experience, Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Quality Control in welding environment.
Licenses/Certifications: LA City Structural welding license in BOTH the manual and semiautomatic processes and/or current API/ASME pipe welding certifications is required within the first year of employment.
Other: Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (E.C. 87360a).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Fulfill the duties of a full-time instructor, including, but not limited to, holding weekly office hours and completing 24 hours of 'flex credit' through various available activities and seminars.
- The instructional assignment will include lecture and/or laboratory classes in the discipline.
- Faculty will participate in outcomes assessment work.
- Faculty assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly...
- Institutional service activities are expected of all faculty members.
- Participation in discipline/department decision making processes...
- Responsibilities also include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
- Teaching assignment may include early morning (e.g., 7:00am) day, evening, online, hybrid, weekend, and/or off campus classes.
Maintenance and repair of welding laboratory equipment. Material handling of supplies including unloading deliveries of steel, consumables, and bottles, making sure items are stored properly.
