Wellness Coordinator
JOB SUMMARY
The Wellness Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive health promotion programs and services for the university community, with a focus on both undergraduate and graduate students. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness, this role aims to foster a culture of well-being, reduce health-related barriers to academic success, and empower students to make informed, healthy choices throughout their lives. The Wellness Coordinator will work collaboratively with various campus departments, student organizations, and community partners prioritizing alcohol and other drug education, bystander intervention, sexual assault prevention, mental health, suicide prevention, and personal wellness.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Program Development and Implementation
- Designs, implements, and manages evidence-based health promotion programs, campaigns, and workshops
- Develops and delivers educational presentations and training sessions for students, staff, and faculty on various health topics
- Coordinates campus-wide health events, such as health fairs, wellness challenges, and awareness weeks
- Utilizes a variety of marketing channels (e.g. social media, newsletters, websites, and in-person outreach) to disseminate health information and resources
Collaboration and Partnerships
- Serves as a wellness resource for student organizations, residence life, academic departments, and other campus partners
- Collaborates with the Division of Student Development and other University partners to create a holistic approach to student well-being
- Forges and maintains partnerships with local and national health organizations to expand program offerings and resources
- Serves as the primary contact for the Missouri Partners in Prevention (PIP) coalition and attend monthly meetings as required
Needs Assessment and Evaluation
- Conducts regular needs assessments and surveys to identify priority health issues and trends among the student population including the Missouri Assessment of College Health Behaviors (MACHB)
- Evaluates the effectiveness of programs and initiatives using qualitative and quantitative data
- Prepares and presents reports on programming outcomes, including recommendations for future programming
Student Support and Advocacy
- Oversees and advises the Health Education Action Team (Peer Educators) program and other student groups (as needed)
- Advocates for policies and environmental changes that support a healthy campus community
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of public health trends, best practices, and health promotion theories
Other
- Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and evidence-based wellness programming within a higher education setting
- Knowledge of public health topics relevant to college populations
- Knowledge of program planning, implementation, and evaluation methodologies
- Knowledge of student development theory and peer education models
- Strong organizational and documentational skills
- Strong coordination, collaboration, and communication skills
- Strong presentation skills and project management skills
- Strong leadership and student development skills
- Ability to analyze needs assessment and survey data to identify trends, evaluate outcomes, and recommend program improvements
- Ability to advocate for policies, practices, and environmental changes that promote a healthy campus culture and student well-being
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Community Health Education, or related field
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Mental Health First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
- Demonstrate experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Familiarity with social media and digital marketing for health promotion
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in a related field
- Positive full-time experience in collegiate recreation or wellness programming
- Experience supervising student employees, managing facilities, and overseeing budgets, and implementing a peer education program
- Experience developing inclusive, accessible programs for diverse populations
This is a full-time, hourly position. Pay starting at $20.67/hour (commensurate with experience), plus benefits including vacation and sick leave, health/dental/vision/life insurance, 403B retirement savings plan and match, tuition remission, employee assistance program and wellness program.
