Women's Soccer Head Coach
The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) invites applications for the position of Women's Soccer Head Coach. The position will be responsible for all phases of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) program, within the University, Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC), and NAIA rules and regulations. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to coaching and mentoring student-athletes, recruiting prospective student-athletes, scouting opponents, practice planning and game preparation, fiscal management of budget, fund raising, and game scheduling, and representing the University of Michigan-Dearborn. UM-Dearborn is among the top-tier comprehensive public universities in the Midwest with approximately 8,100 students, outstanding faculty and staff as well as beautiful facilities and grounds.
- Coach and mentor student-athletes and prepare practice plans and team for success in the classroom, community, and competition. Recruit student-athletes who fit the mission and values of UM-Dearborn who want to be students first and excel in the classroom and in competition.
- Comply with rules, regulations and policies of the NAIA, WHAC, and University of Michigan Dearborn. Oversee the planning, organizing, directing, and implementing of all phases of the women soccer program.
- Manage budget and be fiscally responsible. Fundraise to supplement budget.
- Direct all recruiting efforts of prospective student-athletes including official and unofficial visits, and assist student-athletes in the process of the NAIA Eligibility Center and work with the Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance and Internal Operations to ensure the initial and continuing eligibility of all student-athletes related to women soccer.
- Participate in department meetings, trainings, and campus functions.
- Assist with game management duties.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree or a combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the requisite knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of this position.
- Must have strong organizational skills, with the capacity to establish priorities, manage multiple demands and projects, and meet deadlines.
- A strong customer service orientation and attention to detail, along with excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications, and presentation skills.
- The successful applicant must be a self-starter, with the ability to take initiative and use sound judgment in making decisions and resolving problems. Must work effectively, independently and cooperatively with students, staff, faculty, and other internal and external constituents.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and some holidays as applicable to ensure program success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coaching experience at the intercollegiate level and/or an applicable level.
- Knowledge and/or experience of the recruitment process.
- Thorough knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations, intercollegiate athletics, and higher education.
- Fiscal management experience.
Will be working nights and weekends and some holidays and possibly outdoors with game management duties.
