Per Diem, Athletic Trainer
Shifts will vary approximately 4-6 hours per day (including practices and game coverage as assigned)
Reports To: Head Athletic Trainer
The Per Diem Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services on an hourly basis to support the health, safety, and performance of student-athletes at Manhattan University. This role assists with injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and event coverage as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Provide on-site athletic training coverage for practices, competitions, and events as assigned.
- Evaluate, treat, and manage athletic injuries in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist with injury prevention strategies, including taping, bracing, and warm-up oversight.
- Administer therapeutic modalities and rehabilitation exercises under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate first aid and acute care.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, athletes, and athletic training staff regarding injury status and participation.
- Maintain accurate and timely injury documentation and treatment records.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe athletic training environment.
- Adhere to institutional policies, departmental procedures, and applicable governing body regulations.
- NATABOC certified, NY State licensed or eligible. CPR / AED certified.
- Strong computer, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel, work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in Athletic Training or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in higher education or professional sports setting.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and some holidays as needed.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift equipment on occasion and work in various environmental conditions.
- Ability to foster positive relationships and create partnerships with a wide range of constituent groups.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong attention to detail and keep specific timelines.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to problem solve.
