Work Assistant, Per Diem (Multiple Vacancies)
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Work Assistant for the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology at the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Work Assistant assists with several research studies relating to Diabetes and Metabolism.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Recruits, consents, and retains study subjects.
- Collects clinical data from subjects and/or medical records.
- Assists in the creation and management of documents for Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and other study related activities.
- Handles, processes, and ships biospecimens. Manages long-term archiving of biospecimens and correlating metadata. Keeps thorough knowledge of research study, study rationale, and study subjects. May potentially assist with laboratory procedures, such as measuring insulin and c peptide by elisa.
- Keeps neat, thorough, and up-to-date records of procedures and analyses, using paper and electronic platforms.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Physical Demands: Reading, standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. Lifting up to 25 lbs. BSL2+ laboratory environment; exposure to study subjects in a clinical environment and exposure to research animal models.
- Work Environment: Office environment with moderate noise.
