Job Summary: The Work Study Program Coordinator provides leadership and direction in the administration of student employment services for Federal Work Study (FWS), FWS Community Service, America Reads/Counts Tutoring, and the Job Location and Development Programs.
Additional Department Summary: The Federal Work Study program employs from 600 to 700 students with a payroll of approximately $1.5 million annually. The Job Location and Development Program provides approximately 2,500 additional part-time or temporary job opportunities with projected earnings totaling approximately $13,450,000. This position solicits part-time job vacancies both on and off-campus. Develops and maintains written policies and procedures. Monitors fund expenditures. Addresses complaints and questions of job applicants and other day to day responsibilities that may arise.
Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $48,600 - Midpoint: $60,800 (Salaried E7)
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of financial aid and/or federal work study experience; OR master's degree and some financial aid and/or federal work study experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Ability to comprehend complex regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective listening skills. Ability to meet and address the public and effectively work with concerned clients. Superior organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management. Ability to interact with a computerized management system. Ability to provide a sound basis for establishment of priorities, selection of appropriate courses of action for pursuit or recommendations. Ability to adapt and deal with a myriad of changes and adjust accordingly to resolve conflicts. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, employees, students, and associates. Ability to effectively convey and exchange information. Ability to read, comprehend, and comply with federal and state law, regulation, and policy pertaining to the provision of student financial aid.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business, education, communications, or another relevant field. Five (5) years of financial aid experience at a major university to include a base knowledge level of federal student aid programs.
