Amy Stapp is Division Chair of the Agriculture division at Cuesta College, with extensive involvement in the Business & Economics area. She holds a B.A. in Business/Economics from Wheaton College and an M.B.A. in General Business from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Hired in Fall 2015 as a full-time tenure-track Agribusiness instructor, she heads the Agribusiness program, teaching courses such as AGB 201, AGB 202, AGB 204, and AGB 210. Stapp also teaches Business courses and, as of recent program planning documents, serves as the new Division Chair overseeing the Accounting, Business, and Economics programs. She earned tenure and advanced to Interim Division Chair in Spring 2022. Her career at Cuesta College emphasizes program development, curriculum innovation, and student preparation for transfer and workforce entry in agribusiness and related economic fields.
Stapp led the development and local approval of the Agriculture Business Associate Degree for Transfer (A.S.-T.) in Fall 2014, preparing students for CSU bachelor's programs in Agricultural Business and careers in crop and agricultural equipment marketing, banking and production loans, food processing, international marketing, and agricultural policy. She created the Farm Management course in partnership with Cal Poly's Farmer Experiential Education and Development (F.E.E.D.) program, enabling Cuesta students to complete four courses and qualify for Cal Poly internships. Under her leadership, the Agriculture program expanded in Fall 2017 to include Agriculture Plant Science and Mechanized Agriculture, with new curriculum and positions. As Project Director for the USDA Hispanic Serving Institutions grant (2018-2023), she supported Hispanic student access and participation, including summer research opportunities at Cal Poly. Stapp advises the Rodeo Club, contributes to instructional comprehensive program planning and reviews for Agribusiness and Business programs, and participates in college committees, fostering leadership skills through initiatives like Ag Ambassadors and Collegiate FFA. Her appointments enhance Cuesta College's alignment with institutional goals for student success in Business & Economics and agriculture.
