Dr. Bola Adebayo serves as a researcher and lecturer in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ibadan, Master of Public Health (MPH) from Edith Cowan University between 2011 and 2013, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Curtin University from 2017 to 2022. Her PhD research examined culture, institutions, and dementia care experiences of migrant care workers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. With a background in dentistry and public health, Dr. Adebayo is dedicated to improving health outcomes for vulnerable and marginalised populations, particularly through addressing social determinants of health.
Dr. Adebayo's academic interests focus on migrant health, oral health in residential aged care, acculturation stress, job demands, coping strategies, and employment intentions among migrant care workers in Australian aged care facilities. She has authored several impactful publications, including 'Migrant Care Workers' Perceptions of Their Working Conditions in Australian Residential Aged Care Facilities' published in the Journal of Transcultural Nursing in 2023, co-authored with Pam Nichols, Karen Heslop, and Bianca Brijnath; 'Investigating the Impacts of Acculturation Stress on Migrant Care Workers in Australian Residential Aged Care Facilities' also in the Journal of Transcultural Nursing in 2021; and 'A Scoping Review of Dementia Care Experiences in Migrant Aged Care Workforce' in The Gerontologist in 2020. Her work has been cited over 100 times, influencing discussions on workforce retention, dementia care provision, and health disparities in aged care. Additionally, she coordinates the Dental Policy and Research Project unit and supervises research students at Curtin University, contributing to education and research in nursing and public health.
