About Ugochukwu Bond Stanley

Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie is the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, appointed effective November 19, 2025. A Professor of Physiology and specialist in Medical Physiology and Clinical Measurements, he earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Abia State University in 1998, a Master's degree in 2004, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in 2009, and Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2011. His academic career commenced in 2002 as a lecturer in the Department of Physiology, College of Medicine, Imo State University. He subsequently joined the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), advancing to full Professor of Physiology and Clinical Measurements in 2013. Anyaehie has amassed nearly two decades of teaching and administrative experience in higher education.

Anyaehie has held key administrative roles, including Head of Department of Physiology at UNN Enugu Campus, Deputy Provost of UNN College of Medicine from 2018 to 2022, Provost of the College of Medicine at Imo State University from 2020 to 2022, and pioneer Provost of the College of Medicine at Federal University of Technology, Owerri. He served on the Governing Council of Imo State University. His research interests encompass physiology, clinical measurements, health management, and health education, with over 90 peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals and more than 1,400 citations documented on Google Scholar. Key publications include 'Premature Menopause' (2013, co-authored with T.C. Okeke), 'Medical students' evaluation of physiology learning environments in two Nigerian medical schools' (2011, co-authored with E.O. Nwobodo et al.), and 'Impact of some low-cost interventions on students' performance in a Nigerian medical school' (co-authored with T. Okeke et al.). He has contributed to developing national physiology learning objectives in Nigeria and innovative teaching strategies in biomedical sciences for health professionals.
