SUMMARY

SUNY Brockport invites applications for anticipated part-time adjunct faculty openings in the Master's of Social Work (MSW) program.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions:
Teaching (100%)

The courses to be taught may include topics such as Brief Assessment and Diagnostics, Cultural Humility, Clinical Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and or Policy.

  • Reviews the assigned course syllabus, plans & prepares lessons, and evaluates student performance
  • Engages in experiential and hands-on education when appropriate
  • Produces effective course materials
  • Achieves student learning outcomes
  • Holds open office hours for students
  • Key responsibilities include reviewing the assigned course syllabus, planning & preparing lessons, and evaluating student performance. The courses to be taught may include topics such as Brief Assessment and Diagnostics, Cultural Humility, Clinical Practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, and or Policy
  • Integrates Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppressive, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (ADEI) into teaching as pedagogy
  • Collaborates with the Program Director and course lead to ensure course content aligns with program learning outcomes, required contact hours, and that grading and feedback are timely, effective, and appropriate
  • Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes learning outcomes, teaching methodologies, and assessment criteria aligned with the program
  • Adheres to syllabus requirements, including maintaining required contact hours, and provides timely grading and constructive feedback to students
  • Identifies course texts and associated readings, and designs engaging assignments, deliverables, timelines, and evaluation criteria in collaboration with the Course Leader
  • Utilizes the University's learning management system (Brightspace) to enhance classroom experience, communicate with students, and post the syllabus, assignments, and grades
  • Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments via videoconferencing, phone, or email
  • Communicates student engagement or support needs and notifies the Program Director of any student issues or concerns
  • Evaluates student performance and provides feedback to support skill development

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education
  • Minimum of two to four years of post-master's practice experience
  • Licensure (LCSW/LICSW) is required for those teaching clinical courses

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching graduate-level courses, such as but not limited to: social work practice, Human Behavior in the Social Environment, cultural diversity, mental health and policy.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Work Schedule: Variable

Salary and Benefits:

$5,500 stipend per 3 credit course or 3 credit course equivalent. May be benefits eligible. Find out more about benefits at Careers@Brockport.
