Position Overview
Primary Purpose of the Position: The Department of Mathematics is seeking an Adjunct Faculty of Mathematics in the College of Arts, Sciences, Business and Education, with a start date of June 29, 2026. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: To offer a quality major program in mathematics, with options in statistics, secondary mathematics education, and a minor in mathematics. To offer general education and support mathematics courses in order to develop students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills within the framework of a liberal arts education.

Requirements and Preferences
- Minimum Experience/Education: Master’s Degree with 18 credit hours in Mathematics from a 4 year accredited university or college
- Normal Work Schedule: Varies depending upon course schedule and department needs
Department Required Skills:
- A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence and mentoring, interdisciplinary teaching as well as engagement with and service to the broader public.
- Applicants must have a M.S. in Mathematics.
- Candidates must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to a liberal arts education in a diverse educational community.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics from a 4-year accredited institution.
- Knowledge of the use of technology in teaching Mathematics.
- One to five years of college teaching experience at a culturally diverse liberal arts institution.
- Evidence of successful teaching of college Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus and Statistics or equivalent preferred.
- Participate in curriculum review and evaluation, advise students, serve on department committees.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
The Adjunct Faculty will teach undergraduate courses in Mathematics. This position involves teaching face-to-face courses. It requires continuous communication with the students enrolled in the class, as well as monitoring student progress.
Duties include:
- Creating a syllabus prior to the first class
- Teaching each class section
- Creating and presenting course activities to students
- Grading assignments, providing written feedback to students in a timely fashion, and determining final course grade
- Holding office hours
- Meeting with Program Coordinator and/or Department Head regarding instruction if needed
- Other duties that relate to the course(s) being taught.
