The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) supports the co-curricular and out-of-the-classroom experiences of West Chester University students and aspires to support a campus community where students build healthy personal and professional connections, develop a sense of belonging, and engage thoughtfully with others.
The Office of Student Experience (SXP) provides valuable resources for off-campus living, commuter students, and family members. SXP is committed to fostering an inclusive environment that connects students and families with the university and the larger West Chester area community through intentional engagement opportunities to support institutional retention and graduation goals.
Reporting to the Director of Student Experience (SXP), the Assistant Director develops and supervises a comprehensive off-campus and commuter student employee program and leads the planning and implementation of large-scale, student-centered programs to promote connection, belonging, and engagement through campus and community partnerships.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience supervising, training, and developing student staff and collaborating with diverse campus partners; excellent written communication and presentation skills; and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of working with non-residential students.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of undergraduate and graduate student employees
- Develop and maintain student employee training documents, best practices
- Coordinate training for student employees
- Maintain student employee documents including contracts, employment forms, and payroll records
- Develop student employee assessment tools and job performance standards
- Conduct formal student employee performance reviews
- Oversee undergraduate and graduate work assignments
- Develop and execute large-scale, off-campus and commuter student-centered programming
- Coordinate Days of Service programming efforts in collaboration with campus partners
- Maintain budgets for programs and initiatives
- Create and maintain collaborative University partnerships
- Develop and execute program assessments in alignment with the DOSA curricular programs and co-curricular programming initiatives
- Collaborate with campus partners to build strategic marketing plans to promote programming efforts
- Serve on University and community committees as needed
- Advise the Off-Campus and Commuter Programming Board
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- One of professional OR two years of graduate Student Affairs work experience
- Experience supervising student staff
- Experience implementing educational programming
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, or closely related field
- Experience working with commuter and off-campus students
- Experience planning, implementing and supervising programs and large-scale campus events
- Leadership development programming experience
