The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) invites applications for an Academic Burn Surgeon for the UCLA Health Regional Burn Center at UCLA West Valley Medical Center. This is a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.
The Division of Plastic Surgery provides exceptional patient care, pursues breakthrough research, produces significant advances in the treatment in acute and reconstructive surgery care. The program is based at the UCLA Health Regional Burn Center at UCLA West Valley Medical Center.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of clinical excellence and academic productivity or potential. This position offers teaching, clinical and research/creative productivity opportunities in a large academic center. The appointee will participate in the multi-disciplinary care of burn patients including the inpatient and outpatient clinical management, as well as the acute and reconstructive surgery care. They will be expected to develop/participate in burn research. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
Candidates must have an MD degree or equivalent and be board certified or eligible in general surgery or plastic surgery with completion of a burn surgery fellowship. Board-certification or board-eligibility in general surgery, plastic surgery and critical care preferred. Candidate must be eligible for California medical licensure. The salary will be commensurate with academic rank and experience.
The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5, at Scale 7. In accordance with AB 168 and SB 1162, the anticipated salary range for this position is $340,000 - 740,000. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
