The Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles) invites applications for a full-time junior faculty position in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series.
The colorectal surgery team in the Division of General Surgery provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for the full spectrum of colorectal diseases, combining advanced minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques with expertise in complex open procedures. The team diagnoses and treats benign and malignant conditions of the colon, rectum, small intestine, and anus, working closely within multidisciplinary programs that include cancer genetics, inflammatory bowel disease specialists, oncology, radiology, pathology, and nutrition to deliver integrated, research-driven care. They also participate in clinical trials, contribute to ongoing surgical research, and help train future surgeons while maintaining a strong commitment to compassionate, personalized treatment. The program is based on the campus of UCLA in Westwood and at the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital (Medical Center) and in the community at UCLA Health sites.
The Division is seeking an exceptional Colorectal Surgeon at the Assistant or Associate rank to join a high-acuity, research-driven, and patient-centered program that diagnoses and treats the full spectrum of benign and malignant disorders of the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of clinical excellence and academic productivity. This position offers teaching, clinical and research opportunities in a large academic center. The appointee will have expertise in management of pelvic floor disorders and provide care for general surgery patients with a focus on treating benign and malignant conditions of the small intestine, colon, rectum, and anus, using advanced minimally invasive and robotic techniques as well as complex open procedures when needed. Practice locations include Santa Monica Medical Center and Ronald Reagan Medical Center. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery and eligible for licensure in the State of California. Responsibilities will be patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings, teaching medical students, residents and fellows along with an emphasis on establishing an independent research program. The salary will be commensurate with academic rank and experience.
The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnelprograms/compensation/index.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5, at Scale 7. In accordance with AB 168 and SB 1162, the initial/base salary range for this position is $275,000-$445,700. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
