Academic Coordinator - Department of Physics
The Department of Physics & Astronomy at the University of California invites applicants to apply for a full-time Academic Coordinator career level position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy for Lower Division Physics Laboratory Instruction in Riverside, CA. The Academic Coordinator will be responsible for managing instructional, administrative, and safety activities in support of the lower division laboratory course program. Duties include curriculum development, TA training and oversight, supervision of teaching assistants, enrollment management and course scheduling, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the laboratories, demonstration development for lower division classes, and safety assessment for lower division instructional and research labs. All activities will be conducted in conjunction with relevant faculty members, as designated by the department chairperson.
A willingness to learn and develop new methods, and techniques, as well as maintain well-developed ones, is considered a plus for this position. The candidate will be expected to interact closely with faculty. This position will start in the Fall of 2025. The current base pay range for this position is $84,246 to $164,103.
Basic qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include:
Demonstrates excellence in teaching and laboratory management is required.
Preferred qualifications for this position include: A Ph.D. in Physics or related field is preferred, and experience with laboratory curriculum development, innovation in teaching, educational grant writing, and experience in experimental research is desirable.
