Southeastern Oklahoma State University's department of Upward Bound invites applications for the position of Academic Coordinator Upward Bound.
SUMMARY
To develop, implement, and supervise an academic program and curriculum that will improve the participants' study skills to facilitate successful completion of secondary education and entry and success in postsecondary education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop the projects academic plan for academic assessment of participants.
- Develop and implement the curriculum for all three Upward Bound projects including a master schedule for both academic year (after school meetings) and summer components.
- Assist the Director and Assistant Director in identifying and selecting teachers and tutors. Monitor the classroom implementation and use of program curriculum.
- Monitor and advise the Project Director and Assistant Director of progress of participants in academic subjects.
- Provide academic instruction in math, science, and related subjects during the academic year as needed.
- Evaluate all aspects of the academic program including teacher effectiveness, adequacy of instruction, facilities, and support.
- Document in the project management system the assessment data for participants' semester grades, achievement tests result, and PLAN and ACT results.
- Drive to target high schools to provide academic, career, and personal advisement to project participants as assigned.

- Safety: Employee works safely, attends safety training offered/required, and follows appropriate safety rules and regulations. In relation to level of NIMs training completed, participates in incident management preparation and performs incident duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree in math, science, or a related field is required.
- Must have teaching, curriculum development or TRIO experience.
- Summer enrichment program experience is preferred.
- Must be a person who is able to relate to disadvantaged youth, parents, school administrators and personnel, service agency personnel, and postsecondary personnel in a positive manner.
- Must exhibit the understanding, desire, and ability to advocate for the disadvantaged participant.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and strong technical and analytical skills.
- Displays initiative and ability to assume responsibility and perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Professional ethics related to the position.
- Must have practical computer experience and demonstrated computer knowledge.
- Must have valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
- Must be able to carry/lift books and supplies.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The preferred start date is April 1, 2026. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until filled.
