POSITION DETAILS
The Department of Film and Media Studies at Hunter College (CUNY) seeks a Coordinator for the Integrated Media Arts (IMA) MFA program. The IMA program offers advanced studies in multimedia documentary arts. Students work with nationally recognized faculty to conceptualize, create and distribute innovative, socially engaged expressions using a variety of media technologies.
This position reports to the IMA Director, with dotted line report to the Deputy Director (both faculty members). The IMA Coordinator helps to organize and promote the program. The Coordinator showcases the work of students in the many mediums and storytelling approaches that are explored at IMA including film, animation, audio, installation, interactive mediums and performance. This position is also responsible for implementation of program guidelines, the coordination of students, faculty, and staff and interacts with a broad range of offices and entities including visiting artists, professors, alumni, current students, college personnel, prospective students, the IMA website developer, and arts and media organizations. The Coordinator also assists in production and documentation of events, workshops and the bi-annual IMA Thesis show, designs imagery to use for recruitment, and updates our social media outlets.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in organizing, promoting, and coordinating program activities to support student work and events, including documentation for the bi-annual IMA Thesis Show.
- Help implement program guidelines and support coordination among students, faculty, and staff under supervision.
- Manage communications between the department and graduate students; respond to routine inquiries and route complex questions to appropriate offices.
- Support the planning and delivery of orientations and information sessions for new and continuing students.
- Coordinate information about classes, advising, critiques, events, deadlines, and opportunities; help track opportunities and timelines.
- Assist with recruitment and admissions tasks, including data entry, routine inquiries, and initial intake support for prospective students.
- Create basic imagery and support production of audio/visual ads and promotional materials; help update social media and the IMA website.
- Document classes and events; assist with social media updates and website content collaboration; help maintain program archives.
- Meet prospective students, conduct tours of IMA spaces, and coordinate class visit logistics under supervision.
- Provide general office support (data entry, record-keeping, letters of support, proofreading) and help archive information, media, and databases related to IMA activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree required.
Other Qualifications include:
- Familiarity with multiple mediums and storytelling approaches.
- Graphic Design, photography and photo editing skills; Wordpress skills a plus.
- Attentive to detail, organized and a self-starter.
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
- Time management and prioritization skills.
- Ability to anticipate, initiate, and prioritize projects.
- Familiarity with IMA, Hunter College, CUNY or public college education.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides operational and analytical support for a learning resource center.
- Assists in providing academic resources such as tutoring, remedial and/or other targeted student support services
- Maintains center records including student files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on center activities
- Assists with the planning, scheduling and execution of training programs, lectures, workshops, meetings and special events
- Acts as a liaison to various College offices to ensure smooth operations and quality service
- Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding center policies and procedures; conducts basic research as assigned.
- May schedule individual and group sessions for students
- May supervise part-time and/or clerical staff; may monitor department budget
- Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary commensurate with education and experience, within approved range: $48,647-$63,003.
