Academic Technology Specialist
The Information Technology Specialist supports curriculum delivery by implementing software solutions, enhancing the efficiency of electronic platforms, and developing internal applications or automations used by the college. The Information Technology Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Operations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to adapt quickly to new software platforms and development frameworks, while understanding the software development life cycle.
- Organizational skills and abilities to prioritize workload and complete detail-oriented assignments.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skill to work well with limited guidance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to articulate technical concepts clearly to individuals with limited technical knowledge or experience.
- Ability to perform requirements gathering to effectively document and clarify project specifications.
- Ability to translate design specifications into functioning software solutions.
- Must be able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to manage workload and meet deadlines and challenges in a professional manner.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office setting.
- Based on requirement analysis, the IT specialist must have the ability to assess/evaluate off the shelf-software and provide educated recommendations for potential implementation.
- Strong understanding of Django and .NET frameworks.
- Advanced knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries, and database design in MySQL or MariaDB.
- Proficient understanding of using various APIs to facilitate data retrieval in scripts, applications, or other automations.
- Comprehensive knowledge on web related technologies: HTML and CSS, XML and JSON, JavaScript and jQuery, Bootstrap.
- Familiarity with the Microsoft 365 suite of products, including but not limited to Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, and PowerBIcloud.
- Familiarity with SDLC methodologies including: Waterfall, Agile and Iterative.
- Embody a commitment to Humanism.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Required – BS in Information Technology or Computer Science. Any combination of education, training, or experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Experience: Preferred minimum Two to three years of full stack software development experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with API access/development preferred.
- Experience in developing software solutions under Agile preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft PowerApps, Power Automate, and SharePoint.
