General Statement of Duties
The Accessibility Technology Coordinator serves as a member of the CIT online learning training and support team in the Center for Instructional Technology and reports to the Director of the CIT. This position will work closely with faculty, the Banacos Academic Center (Disability Services), and other campus stakeholders to ensure ADA accessibility and Title II compliance for all learning management technology systems used in PLATO/LMS.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Establishes and ensures ADA accessibility and Title II compliance for all learning management technology systems used primarily in PLATO/LMS.
- Manages and coordinates video and audio captioning processes and workflows.
- Works with CIT staff to provide individual and group training for faculty and staff.
- Develops and maintains accessibility materials on PLATO website.
- Trains and supervises contract employees in work relating to accessibility.
- Researches new and emerging technologies and services to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
Qualifications
Required: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering. Minimum 2 years' experience with a learning management system (LMS). Minimum 2 years' experience with making digital content accessible. Demonstrated knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Microsoft Web Development Certification. Excellent customer service skills.
Preferred: Brightspace learning management system experience. Experience in higher education environment.
