Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Business Affairs is responsible for supporting the university's teaching, research and public service mission by providing quality business and administrative services to the UNCW community and ensuring transparency in planning and budgeting. The Associated Entities section of Business Affairs provides accounting and financial reporting services for the eight university associated entities, as well as the university endowment. UNC Policy recognizes the independence of each entity as being separate from the university and controlled by its respective governing body. The Accounting function is responsible for the consolidation and maintenance of the organization's financial records in order to provide accurate and complete financial data to board members, university management and state and federal agencies.
Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Associated Entities Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions for the university's associated entities and the university endowment. This position ensures compliance with UNC system, state and federal requirements, prepares financial analyses, interim and fiscal year-end financial statements to campus and coordinates with the external auditors during the annual independent audits for each of the associated entities.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate's degree in accounting; or Associate's degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
