Starting Salary Range:
Adjunct base rate is $1,208-$1,344 per credit hour depending on degree and teaching experience and in accordance with the adjunct pay table listed in the Master Agreement.
Adjunct professors assigned to Integration Lecture Lab Instruction like studio classes average pay is between $6,300 - $7,400.
Position Summary:
Johnson County Community College is looking for an adjunct professor to teach a stacked section of Ceramics I and II in the Summer of 2026 with a possibility of continued employment in the department of Fine Arts.
Required Qualifications:
- MFA in Ceramics or Sculpture (with demonstrated expertise in Ceramics).
- Experience working within a college curriculum, showing an ability to follow syllabus guidelines and level appropriate assignments for the program.
- Knowledge and experience working with gas and electric kilns in a context of a ceramic studio.
- Experience teaching ceramics to undergraduate ceramics students, including:
- Teaching/ demonstrating wheel throwing and handbuilding to freshman/ sophomore level college students.
- Knowledge of and having experience teaching a variety of surface applications, such as greenware and glazing techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with art- and non-art majors in the context of a community college.
- Ability to work in a collaborative studio environment.
