Harold Washington College, Is Seeking an Adjunct Faculty for the Department of Art And Architecture/Digital Multimedia Design/Web Design. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching responsibilities include courses in: Web design, Digital Media design and image processing.
  • Design courses to meet learning outcomes, and promote students’ active participation in their own learning.
  • Create an effective learning environment that fosters students’ intellectual curiosity and helps students to problem solve using discipline-specific thinking strategies.
  • Employ a variety of formative and summative assessments to ensure that classroom instruction leads to student learning and the attainment of the student learning outcomes for the course.
  • Help students reach their academic, personal and career goals and foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of people and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student’s ability to learn.
  • Contribute to and provide leadership in the student’s academic and professional communities, and promote collaboration and teamwork among members of these communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree/ MFA in interactive design, new media or related discipline required
  • Professional Experience/Expertise in Design/Web design or related field, (4 years' industry or business applied experience in the teaching subject area.) (Candidates would demonstrate with portfolio & work samples).
  • Special consideration may be given to a candidate with a combination of Bachelor’s degree in interactive design, new media or related discipline and 10+ years of professional industry or business applied experience in Web design/ development field demonstrated through expertise and excellence in performance evident through CV, Portfolio & work samples.
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite: Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Photoshop, Animate; HTML, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap & JQuery.
  • Previous teaching experience in an academic environment.
  • Knowledge of Brightspace, preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of staff and students required.
  • Experience with a diverse, multi-lingual student population is desired, as is a commitment to the open access mission of the community college.

Salary Range: Salary: $800.00 Per Contact Hour

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
